Boys and their Toys

It's fun to watch the kids play with the simplest things. They could have a room full of toys, books, stuffed animals, you name it. They'll pick the simplest toy out of it. My son prefers to play with a plastic toy mower I got for free at a thrift store, versus the mower with motor noise and bubble blowing. Go figure. Last night when he wanted to fix his plastic chair, he picked his wooden puzzle tools instead of the Handy Manny ones. Why? I'm not sure but who I am to get in the way of tool picking? Instead of playing with his cars or trains he played with a tape measure to explore with while I cooked dinner this evening.
It's funny. I wonder what is going on in the mind of that 2 1/2 year old of mine. It's great to not have to worry about buying expensive toys to entertain him. As I'm sure the day will come when the old cell phone that stopped working won't "work" anymore and he'll want the real deal. Well.. as long as kids don't expect to carry a cell phone in elementary school I'll be good for at least 10 years. Right?

It is funny the things they will play with, why we buy the other toys I'll never know! Although the older they get the know they want the more expensive toys over the box or the crayons. And sadly we have kids at our school - who are in elementary school carrying cell phones! It makes me sick! Mine won't be one of those!

Get ready, because all the high-gadget toys, they'll want them soon enough! I work with Jr. High kids & they have better cell phones then I do!!!!

Its funny what they can imagine to play with. Here latley my three year old has started to play with all the baby toys he had when he was smaller. He dosen't seem interested in the "cooler" toys more fitted for his age.

Dropping by from SITS, have a great day!

stopping by from SITS - my son's fave toy is a half empty water bottle... he's watch the water, spin and roll the bottle and then use it like a magnifying glass... I love they way young minds work! It's great that your son isn't hung up on the cool toys!
