Turn off the tv

Speak No Evil
*Speak no evil* Pictures, Images and Photos

While my kids are awake and in the living room I usually have the television on a station that is kid friendly. Whether it's Nick Jr, the Disney Channel or a family movie from Netflix it's a program that I know is safe for them. Yesterday was out of the ordinary and I was under the weather so I was watching randomness on the tv. I had the station set to the USA network and was watching a few sitcoms and an old movie. We got up to fix dinner and it was about 6:30 in the evening so most kids are awake at this time. I hear this commercial come on and it piqued my attention. It goes on to talk about this pill to increase a women's sex performance. WhaT?! I couldn't get to the controller fast enough to change the channel.
I changed it to another network where another older movie was coming on. I thought it was safe to leave on. Boy was I wrong again. I thought that family friendly cable networks took out or changed the swear words on movies. But this movie in question still had the words pissed, b!tch and a$$ left in. They altered the mother of all words but you could still tell what it was. What is it with tv?! Why is it that more and more networks are allowing this type of talk? I realize that we all have let them slip out of our mouths and we regret it when we do it in front of our babes but to allow tv to do it in front of them? I'm not perfect by any means but I try every day to become a better Christian and mother and using such language doesn't add up in my book. I guess I'll be trying harder to offer a better viewing program or I maybe I will turn off the tv next time.
What is your take on swearing in front of your kids?

James 4:11
Don’t speak evil against each other, dear brothers and sisters. If you criticize and judge each other, then you are criticizing and judging God’s law. But your job is to obey the law, not to judge whether it applies to you.
